10 Ways The 2024 Toyota Camry Will Shake Up The Market

May 18, 2023May 18, 2023

With subtle changes to the popular midsize sedan, the Camry is set to dominate the market once again.

The Toyota Camry has been a mainstay in the automotive industry for decades. It has out-sold every other midsize sedan on the market for 21 years, thus, enthusiasts and car buyers alike have been looking forward to the release of the 2024 Toyota Camry.

The well-loved family midsize sedan is one of the most affordable, yet value-packed vehicle options on the market today — with a variety of premium standard features even on the base model and numerous optional upgrades to enhance the vehicle's comfort and driving characteristics. It is then no wonder that the Camry has been one of the best-selling cars of all time, with only pickups and SUVs beating the 5-seater sedan.

Toyota had some new features in store for the 2024 Camry despite having the same exterior looks and retaining some features from the 2023 model year — features that will surely make the car more competitive in the market, until Toyota releases the 2025 Camry.

We used information from Toyota to make this list of ways the 2024 Camry will shake up the market.

The 2024 Toyota Camry remains one of the most affordable brand-new midsize sedans on the market today, however, that doesn't mean that the popular midsize sedan is lackluster. In fact, even the lowest trim level of the 2024 Camry comes with a multitude of standard features including premium interior finishing, sleek exterior design, Toyota's advanced safety features, and the Japanese automaker's world-renowned reliability.

The cheapest trim level of the Camry starts at $27,515 though prices could easily shoot up to over $34,580 for the highest performance-oriented TRD trim level.

SE

$28,785

SE Nightshade

XLE

XSE

TRD

While the Camry isn't as cheap as competing midsize sedans like the $25,985 2024 Subaru Legacy and the $26,195 Chevrolet Malibu, it is important to note that Camry has been the most popular sedan in the past few years for being a great bang for the buck sedan option — and the 2024 model year will most likely hold up that reputation.

The Toyota Camry has been one of the safest cars on the market for many years now. Starting from the lowest LE trim level, Toyota has jampacked the 2024 Camry with plenty of its advanced safety features.

Toyota equipped all trim levels with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ as standard. This includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and dynamic radar cruise control. All 2024 Camrys also have the Star Safety System which includes enhanced vehicle stability control, traction control, anti-lock brake system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, and smart stop technology.

While the NHTSA hasn't rated the 2024 Camry, previous model years have consistently received a 5-star overall safety rating from the agency. The 2023 model year also received an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, making the Camry one of the safest cars in the world in that year.

Starting from the lowest LE trim level, Toyota already equipped the Camry with a variety of creature comforts including a larger 7-inch multi-information display, fabric-trimmed seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and interior metal door handles. But looking toward the higher-level, yet still affordable trim levels, Toyota included a number of premium interior features fit for a more luxurious sedan.

Furthermore, more options are available to make the car even more luxurious including an audio upgrade package and a cold weather package. All these make the Camry the perfect commuter car.

Camry models are popular for their good looks, sporty handling, and smooth ride.

A respectable 203 hp 4-cylinder internal combustion engine powers the lowest trim-level Camry. While Toyota equipped the Camry with some sporty features, including a sport driving mode in all Camry models, the Japanese automaker didn't compromise on comfort.

Thanks to the TNGA-K platform, the 2024 Camry has solid handling on the road while delivering a smooth and comfortable ride to all occupants, according to Toyota's press release. Further improving ride quality on all Camrys are the improved noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) countermeasures found in the 2024 Camry. Toyota says these were previously only found on luxury vehicles. These improvements include vibration-dampening materials, a thicker dashboard silencer mat, special vibration-damping coating in the underfloor, and noise-proofing material under the headliner.

Toyota also offers suspension upgrades to make the Camry's ride dynamics more akin to that of a luxury vehicle.

The sportier and edgier-looking 2024 Toyota Camry Nightshade edition is basically the SE trim level with a number of good-looking cosmetic upgrades both inside and outside the vehicle although not much has changed from the features of the 2023 model year Nightshade. A 203 hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine powers the 2024 Camry Nightshade — the same powertrain on the regular Camry SE.

While the Nightshade comes standard in front-wheel drive, buyers have the option to equip it with an all-wheel drive system. Buyers also have the option to equip the 2024 Camry Nightshade with a fuel efficient 208 hp hybrid powertrain.

The ultimate 2024 Toyota Camry comes in the performance-oriented TRD trim level that features a host of upgrades from the base-level sedan. Owners and enthusiasts have highly praised the previous Camry TRD model years for being an amazing sporty sedan.

The most striking upgrade the Camry TRD gets over the base-trim level is the 3.5-liter 301 hp V6 engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It also comes with numerous other performance-enhancing upgrades.

TRD trim level also has a number of cosmetic features that make the sports sedan even more sporty including TRD instrumentation with red-illuminated accents, stitched red TRD logo on the headrests, and a special TRD start-up animation.

While all Camry trim levels come standard with front-wheel drive, Toyota gives buyers the option to equip their brand-new 2024 Camry with a smart all-wheel drive system. The Toyota dynamic torque control all-wheel drive system helps improve traction in slippery conditions and is capable of redirecting 50 percent of engine torque to the Camry's rear wheels.

The all-wheel drive system has another trick up its sleeve as it is able to disengage when it isn't needed in order to improve fuel efficiency. It is able to reengage at a moment's notice, without the driver nor the occupants ever realizing it.

The system is lightweight, only weighing 165 lbs, and doesn't eat up any passenger or trunk space.

The 2024 Toyota Camry has a hybrid powertrain option that produces a respectable 208 hp and gives an extremely efficient mileage of 52 MPG — making it one of the most efficient hybrids out there. While it's still far from the three-digit MPGe numbers of all-electric vehicles, the Camry's mileage is attractive for more environmentally-conscious drivers who still want the safety of being able to refuel their vehicle with gasoline.

The 2024 Camry's fuel economy also beats all of 2023's most efficient hybrid and internal combustion engine sedans by a long shot — including the previous model year Camry.

To sweeten the deal even more, Toyota gives all 2024 Toyota Camry buyers a complimentary one-year Toyota Safety Connect subscription which unlocks extended features on the car's multimedia system. The Safety Connect system comes in handy in case of accidents or theft as it enables an emergency assistance button, enhanced roadside assistance, automatic collision notification, and a stolen vehicle locator for the brand-new Camry.

All new 2024 Camrys also get a complimentary 30-day or 3GB trial of Wi-Fi Connect, which enables a hotspot in the Japanese sedan.

Furthermore, the XSE and XLE trim levels get a one-year Remote Connect trial that comes with remote start and door unlock capability, vehicle status notifications, a guest driver monitor, and a vehicle finder system.

A V6 internal combustion engine is a rare sight in a midsize sedan these days, but luckily Toyota still offers a powerful V6 engine for the Camry. According to Toyota, the 2024 Camry is one of the last midsize sedans to host a V6 engine — giving prospective performance-oriented buyers a clear sedan of choice.

This powerful engine connects to an 8-speed automatic transmission and easily makes the family-oriented Camry one of the ultimate sleeper cars today. The V6 comes standard on the TRD trim level and comes as an option on the XLE and XSE trim levels. LE, and SE buyers, however, are out of luck as the V6 isn't an option at those trim levels.
